Randy L. Bowser, age 55, of 9680 Deer Trail, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away suddenly at 5:28 a.m. on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth. Randy was born on August 2, 1953, in Plymouth, to Donald and Donna Lee (Cripe) Bowser. Randy, and his high school sweetheart, the former Ann Ruggles, were united in marriage on May 27, 1972, in Plymouth. Together they raised their two daughters, Emily and Eileen. Randy worked for the United Telephone Company and Sprint, for 34 years, before his retirement. While at the telephone company he served on the Sprint Community Relations Team. After his retirement he started his own company, "Bowser's White Pines Woodworker", and enjoyed being a self employed carpenter, attending to the needs, whether large or small, of many people in this community. Randy was also a dedicated member of the support staff of Van Gilder Funeral Home. He also helped his brother-in-law, Jim Ruggles, repair instruments at the home Notre Dame Games. He had been serving on the Marshall County Blueberry Board since1988, belonged to the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, and worked with the Christmas in April project. He was a very active and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, in Plymouth, where he served on several boards and was a Church Elder. He sang with the choir, and many times Randy, Ann, Emily, and Eileen would sing together, as a family.
He was a true "Plymouth Boy" and supported Emily and Eileen with all of their activities during their school years. He was a graduate of Plymouth High School in the Class of 1971. He and Ann attended all of the Plymouth Pilgrims basketball home games, having the same reserved seats for many years. Family was a very important part of Randy's life. He loved his family and they loved him. Together they spent a lot of quality time laughing, loving, and just plain having fun. Those wonderful memories will never be forgotten.
Randy is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Ann; their daughters, Emily Bowser of Plymouth and Eileen (Jeff) Taber of Mishawaka, Indiana; the two little "joys of his life", his granddaughters, Emma Claire Welch and Elyse Isabelle Taber of Mishawaka; his father, Don Bowser of Plymouth; two brothers, Rex and Joyce Bowser of Coatsville, Indiana and Roger and Beckey Bowser of Cassopolis, Michigan; his mother-in-law- Betty Ruggles of Plymouth; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Bev Ruggles of Plymouth; his nieces and nephews; and his great-nieces and great-nephews. Randy was recently preceded in death by his mother, Donna Lee Bowser, on October 3, 2008. Funeral services for Randy will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008, at the FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 401 North Walnut Street, Plymouth, at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Les Johnson, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Liechty, and the Rev. Paul Nye officiating. Cremation will take place after the funeral and burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, at a later date.
