Charles B. Miller, age 80, of 5270 Michigan Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 11:06 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Hospice House in South Bend, Indiana. Charles was born on September 10, 1928, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Elias and Dona (Wagner) Miller. Charles and Esther "Duffy" M. Long were married on February 7, 1950. Duffy passed away on July 1, 1973. On November 4, 1988, Charles and Lucille Long were married.
Charles was self-employed as a painter and wallpaper contractor. He was a member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge #721, American Legion Post #27, and the Plymouth V.F.W. Post #1162 all of Plymouth. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He entered the Navy in January of 1946 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1950, after serving in China during the Korean War. Charles is survived by his wife, Lucille; his daughters, Linda M. Miller (Ted) of California, Diana S. Miller (Mike) of Florida, Janet Seamon (Lucky) of Argos, Indiana; his son Mark A. Miller (Amaryl) of California; his brothers, Ralph W. and Marie Miller of Schoorl, Holland and Retired Lt. Col. U.S.A.F. Alan M. and Carol Miller of Kewanna, Indiana; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Duffy. Funeral services, for Charles, will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ron Hensley officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Saint Joseph, Michigan, at a later date. A time of visiting with the Miller family will be on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563. The family would like for memorial contributions to be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 112 South Center Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
