Garrison Otto Paul Ringenberg
Born January 28, 1990 in Richmond, Indiana At peace with Jesus, April 4, 2009 Garrison was a 2008 graduate of Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Indiana, and was studying Economics and Finance at Ball State University, in Muncie, Indiana.
He lived a life of uniqueness, and left an imprint on everyone's heart. Highly intellectual, he was an avid reader of philosophy, history, politics, and classical literature. He was passionate about discussing politics and philosophical ideas. By the age of 13 he was well versed in political debates, understanding the world better than most adults.
He admired many artists from the 60s, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, and Woody Guthrie. He enjoyed singing, and playing the guitar and harmonica for his friends.
As described by a childhood friend, "Everything about you is so interesting…your life, your interests, your beliefs, your feelings. It was never a board game for us was it? No, it was finding massive amounts of blank paper so we could draw...not random pictures, but create countries, decide what kind of government they had, what economy, what type of religion, and so much more. There was always something new driving you. A new song you were in love with, a new activity you were amazed by, a new rant about a flaw in our government you were infuriated by...and all before the age of 13 you did these things. Soaring past my intelligence, forcing me to increase my creativity, and pushing me to see beyond the world as I saw it. I could almost pass out in exhaustion from trying to keep up with your brain."
A compassionate and tender soul, and completely unassuming, Garrison would have been surprised to know how many lives he touched. Not interested in the superficial aspects of life, he strove to enjoy life in simple ways…taking long, contemplative walks and spending hours reading. Garrison did not like to draw attention to himself, yet people were drawn to him by the life that he led.
Garrison loved the Lord deeply, and cherished this quote by his great-great-grandfather, Peter Ringenberg, "The only way of salvation is recorded in St. John, 3rd. chapter, verses 1-18, being born again. It is not belonging to a man-made organization, but a change of heart."
Garrison is survived by his loving parents, Mark and Brenda Ringenberg of Plymouth; his brother, Grant Ringenberg at home; his maternal grandparents, Merle and Lois Zuehl of Newton, Kansas; his paternal grandparents, Everett and Joyce Ringenberg of Plymouth; his aunts and uncles, Tim and Angie Zuehl, Steve and Nancy Ringenberg, Paul and Carol Ringenberg, Gary and Jan Forrest, Tim Ringenberg, Tom and Hayley Ringenberg, and John (Kathy, deceased) Clark; and numerous cousins.
