ART AND RUTH RINGER

Arthur O. "Art" Ringer, age 92, of 805 Baker Street, Lot 83, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at 7:30 a.m., at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, in Plymouth.

Art was born on November 16, 1916, in South Bend, Indiana to Ora Allen and Inez (Dreibelbis) Ringer. On May 17, 1942, Art and Ruth Miller were united in marriage at the County Line First Brethren Church in LaPaz, Indiana. Together they raised their three children.

Art graduated, with the Class of 1935, from Riley High School, in South Bend. He also attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Illinois. Art had been employed with Wilson Brothers, where they manufactured shirts and ties, for one and a half years. He then worked for 16 years at Studebaker's, in South Bend, and 20 years at Sears, in South Bend, until he retired in January of 1981.

Art enjoyed working in his flower and vegetable gardens. He also enjoyed traveling to many states, even Hawaii, with the love of his life, Ruth. They enjoyed their trips, for 18 years, to Florida. He loved to go to Disney World where he enjoyed rides like; the Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, and Big Thunder Mountain. They also liked traveling to Bush Gardens, in Florida. Art devoted daily time to read his Bible. He spent many years teaching Sunday School and was a member of Sunrise Chapel, in Plymouth.

Art is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Ringer; their daughters, Gloria (Mike) Maxwell of Plymouth, Barbara (Fred) Schafer of Mishawaka, Indiana; their son, Dwight (Marcia) Ringer of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Jeanne (Mrs. Harold) Ringer. He was preceded in death by his three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Don and Louise Ringer, Carl and Mary Ringer, and Harold Ringer; and an infant sister.

Funeral services for Art will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at SUNRISE CHAPEL, 11802 Lincoln Highway, Plymouth, with the Rev. Ruskin Krapfl officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

A time of visiting with the Ringer family will be on Monday, May 25, 2009, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. at the church.
