Geneva E. McAfee, age 73, of 812 West Jefferson Street, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Geneva was born on August 17, 1935 in Bremen, Indiana, to Delmer and Pauline (Thomas) Carothers. Geneva and James McAfee were united in marriage on July 8, 1956. She was a member of the Knox United Pentecostal Church. Geneva is survived by her husband of 53 years, James McAfee of Plymouth; their daughters, Tammy (Randy) Holdeman of Lakeville, Indiana, Julie (Stanley) Kidwell of Richmond, Indiana; and their sons, Curt McAfee of Plymouth and Jamey (Helen) McAfee of Plymouth; her brothers and sisters, Vernon Carothers of Bremen, Noble (Helen) Carothers of Bremen, William (Shirley) Carothers of Bremen, Jack (Mary) Carothers of Lakeville, Indiana, Mildred Lind of South Bend, Indiana, Connie (James) Marshall of Bremen, and Janice Beane of Bremen; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Geneva was preceded in death by her daughter, Robin Haug; her brothers, Donald, Gaylord, and Junior Carothers; her sisters, Delores Masterson and Joy Replogle. Funeral services, for Geneva, will be held on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Jerry Patrick officiating. Burial will be in New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth. A time of visiting with the McAfee family will be on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the VAN GILDER FUNERAL HOME, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 112 South Center Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
