Roger A. Phillips, 78, 11146 Redwood Road, Plymouth, Indiana, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2009, at 12:25 a.m., at the Bremen Health Care Center, in Bremen, Indiana, after battling cancer.

He was born on August 8, 1931, in Ironton, Missouri, to George and Catherine (Staab) Phillips. Roger proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. On December 31, 1964, in Hamlet, Indiana, Roger and Jeanette Nettrouer were united in marriage.

Roger worked for Nipsco for 35 years. He was a member of the Mentone Flying Club and enjoyed flying. He also thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and bowling. Roger loved spending precious time with his grandchildren.

Roger is survived by his wife, of 44 years, Jeanette Phillips, their daughter, Dawn (Matt) Garver of Plymouth; their son, James (Brenda) Phillips, of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Barbara Henson and Kay Hillman; and his brothers, Sonny Phillips and Robert Phillips. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, George and Catherine Phillips; a son Tod Phillips; his sisters, Dorothy Howard and Faye Davis; and his brother, Donald Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for memorials to be given to the Marshall County Cancer Association.
