Oliver J. Heckaman, age 89, of Lakeville, Indiana, passed away at 5:45 a.m., on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth, Indiana.
Oliver was born on July 20, 1920, in Marshall County, Indiana, to Oliver and Chole (Jones) Heckaman. Oliver and Eleanor Porcher were united in marriage on May 21, 1964. Oliver had been a lifetime resident of the Marshall County area.
Oliver was a retired barber and he and his wife Eleanor owned Quilts and Yards. He served his country, proudly, in the United States Navy during WWII.
Oliver is survived by his wife of 45 years, Eleanor; his son, Larry and Merrie Kay Heckaman of Plymouth; and his brothers, David Heckaman and Herb Heckaman both of Lakeville, Indiana. Oliver was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Heckaman, on June 9, 2005.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to the American Heart Association.
